Turf Wars III was the latest event, held at the A La Carte Event Pavilion on Saturday, April 7. “Turf Wars III was the third event planned for 2007,” said Tom Crowther, CEO. “We understand the popularity of the sport and we know that the key to our success is great fighters and action packed fight cards. Turf Wars III delivered all those elements and more.”

David Vieira made his MMA debut in Bout 8 at Turf Wars III against Fred Salsaverda from Submission & Striking Academy. David’s victory by Triangle Choke at 1:48 in the 1st round had him bouncing off the ropes and lifting WFC partner Herb Dozier over his head.
Menor and Muchacho won both of their divisions...Rafael won the gi division...Chip fought great and barely lost on points..and Sean, well he trained hard for 2 months, dropped 25 pounds, weighed in at 175, fought for 2 seconds and his oponent almost broke his leg. He grabbed Seans head and went to jump into the guard but jumped onto his leg instead...nice..
Congrats to All the guys from David Vieira BJJ Competition Team!
We would like to thank Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell for coming by and spending some time with us and also a special thanks to Randy Harris for bringing him here. We all had a great time.
MMAWFC II February 9, 2007 -- Turf Wars II Pics, Tampa, FL We had three fighters on this card: Lander, Marcelo, & Raphael.
Congratulations to our fighters that were on this card: First up was Marcelo Gabral who made his Pro debut to a game fighter. The pace was very fast and Marcelo has some great takedowns, but he caught a knee to the nose and was unable to answer the bell for round 2.
Our second fighter was Diego Lander. This was Diego's second fight and he came out swinging, doing some major damage to his opponent early in the round after the fight went to the ground Diego had several attempts at armbars and a triangle that his opponent was able to power out of, but after a questionable stand-up by the Ref. Diego was able to hit a lighting fast armbar from the bottom for the win.
Our third fighter was Rapheal De Lima. This was Rapheal's Pro debut. This fight was also very fast paced with Rapheal taking the fight to his opponent with some outstanding strikes and a fantastic takedown. Raphael was able to finish his opponent via armbar from the bottom.
We were proud to welcome "Pe De Pano" back to the gym as he spent over a week training with us and sharing his unbelievable knowledge of BJJ… Pe De Pano was listed in Gracie Magazine as the Greatest Gracie Jiu-Jitsu fighter of all time. He finished his stay by doing seminars both here and at Rob Kahn's academy.
Congratulations to two of our fighters on their Pro MMA debut victories in January at MMAWFC, Turf Wars.
First up for DVBJJ was Glendson "Menor" Adillo who won decisively over Harry Holton II. Fight Zone magazine quoted "Menor" as coming out "like a small Tazmanian Devil". " Menor" won the fight in the first round via referee stoppage due to strikes.
Up next was Diego Lander. Lander fought an unbelievable fight winning via armbar at 1:45 in the first round. The victory came over Gidano Marchigano. Fight Zone magazine is quoted saying "Diego was so fast, he looked like a blur in the ring" . Lander won his first Turf Wars belt with this victory.
Congrats to both fighters!

The seminar was hosted by David Vieira and his brother Daniel and it was a great way for them to kickstart the opening to their new school. Around 25 people attended and were privy to one of the worlds best grapplers, Marcio "Pe De Pano" Cruz. The seminar was mostly MMA related and a good majority of the time was Q & A, so there was plenty of time for traditional Gi questions as well.
The seminar was definitely a success and all who showed up learned a new technique or a new spin on old technique.
Opening Night! David Vieira Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gym, Pinellas Park, FL
Approximately 40 people turned out to show support for DVBJJ as the new school opened its doors to the public for the first time. There is a big screen TV to watch training or fight videos on and a Street Fighter II game for all to use.
The school is different than other gyms, in the fact that it is a family friendly environment with a big, comfortable couch and plenty of chairs to sit around and socialize.
David Vieira Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu welcomes everyone to the new school and wishes to thank all of those who showed up to support the grand opening.
